Reading host Blackburn Rovers in the Championship on Wednesday.
The visitors went top of the table after beating West Bromwich Albion 2-1 on Sunday, while Reading were thrashed 4-0 by Rotherham United on Saturday.
Match preview
Reading have a host of injury concerns to deal with at present, with Liam Moore, Lucas Joao (both knee), Ovie Ejaria, Femi Azeez (both hamstring), Sam Hutchinson (leg), Yakou Meite and Scott Dann (both calf) all unlikely to return until towards the end of August at the earliest.
As such, Ince’s ability to change a losing side after the weekend’s heavy defeat to Rotherham is limited, so the same group of players may be asked to prove the loss was a blip by putting on a much better display.
Blackburn, meanwhile, will travel without defender Scott Wharton due to a calf injury.
17-year-old Ashley Phillips deputised alongside Daniel Ayala at the heart of the defence during Sunday’s win against West Brom, and he should receive the nod from his manager to start once again, providing he can shake off the knock which saw him come off as a precaution in injury-time.
