West Ham United to rival Southampton for Chelsea’s Armando Broja?

West Ham United are reportedly set to rival Southampton for the signature of Chelsea striker Armando Broja.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan with the Saints and has impressed under Ralph Hasenhuttl this term, scoring seven goals in 21 appearances across all competitions.

Southampton are understood to be keen to make Broja’s loan deal permanent in the summer; however, Football Insider reports that West Ham are closely monitoring the Albania international and they are prepared to hold talks with Chelsea ahead of a proposed loan or permanent move in the January window.

The report adds that Hammers recruitment chief Rob Newman has recommended Broja to head coach David Moyes, who is on the lookout for a new striker to provide more competition for Michail Antonio.

Both West Ham and Southampton, however, may struggle to get a deal over the line as Chelsea are looking to integrate the academy graduate into their first-team plans next season.

Broja, who is under contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2026, is believed to be valued by the Blues at around £20m.
