Tottenham Hotspur ‘set to rival West Ham United for Jesse Lingard’

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly firmly in the race to sign Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard.

The 28-year-old’s time at Old Trafford appears to be coming to an end, with his contract due to expire next summer.

Discussions over a new deal with the 20-time English champions have allegedly broken down, and West Ham United are said to be lining up a January deal.

On Friday afternoon, the England international fuelled suggestions that he could be moving to the Hammers with his activity on social media.

However, according to ESPN, Tottenham are preparing to battle their capital rivals for the signature of the Man United academy product next year.

The report claims that Barcelona and AC Milan are also keeping a close eye on developments, in addition to Everton and Newcastle United.

Lingard is believed to be surprised at his lack of action this season amid Man United’s problems, with the attacker only playing 63 minutes of Premier League football in 2021-22.
