Real Madrid ‘make first move in Erling Braut Haaland pursuit’

Real Madrid have reportedly made the first move in their attempts to bring Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland to the club.

BVB are not expected to keep hold of the Norway international beyond the summer, with Real Madrid, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Manchester City all thought to be preparing for an intense battle for his signature.

Real Madrid are expected to complete the signing of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from PSG in the summer window, but the prospect of Haaland joining alongside the Frenchman has been mooted.

A recent report claimed that Man United are now in the driving seat for Haaland’s signature, but according to Libertad Digital, it is Real Madrid who have now made the first move.

The publication claims that contact has been initiated with the striker’s agent Mino Raiola, but it remains to be seen if Haaland will be willing to share the spotlight with Mbappe at the Bernabeu.

The 21-year-old has banked 23 goals and six assists in 20 appearances for Dortmund this season, and his contract at the Westfalenstadion does not expire until the summer of 2024.
