Manchester United ‘make decision on Aaron Wan-Bissaka future’

Manchester United will reportedly not allow Aaron Wan-Bissaka to leave Old Trafford in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old’s future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, with Diogo Dalot firmly establishing himself as the team’s first-choice right-back.

A number of clubs, including Barcelona, have been credited with an interest in the Englishman, who has only played four minutes of Premier League football this season.

According to The Athletic, West Ham United and Wan-Bissaka’s former club Crystal Palace have been in contact with Man United to discuss a possible move before the transfer deadline.

However, the report claims that the 20-time English champions have no intention of allowing him to leave, as it is too late in the window to sign a replacement.

Ethan Laird has been allowed to join Queens Park Rangers on loan for the 2022-23 campaign, while another potential option at right-back, Brandon Williams, is still not training with the first team due to a fitness issue.

Barcelona’s Sergino Dest, Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries and Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard are among the right-sided defenders to be linked with Man United in recent weeks.

However, Wan-Bissaka is seemingly set to stay at Old Trafford, at least until January, to provide competition for Dalot, who took over as the first-choice right-back for the second half of last season.

An impressive 2018-19 campaign at Palace convinced the Red Devils to pay in the region of £50m to bring Wan-Bissaka to Old Trafford, but he has found it tough to impress in Manchester.

The former England Under-21s international has featured on 127 occasions for the club, but he has only played once this term, appearing for the final four minutes of the 2-1 win over Liverpool on August 22.

Man United have allowed Eric Bailly and Alex Telles to leave the club this summer, with the former joining Marseille on loan, while the latter has moved to Sevilla, also on loan.

Phil Jones, Williams and Axel Tuanzebe have also been linked with exits, but Ten Hag said on Friday that it was unlikely the trio would be leaving in this transfer window.

“We are talking about players who are not available so I don’t think they will go out in this window,” the Dutchman told reporters when questioned on the three players.

Man United’s summer transfer business is expected to come to an end once they have signed Brazilian attacker Antony from Ajax and Slovakian goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from Newcastle United.
