Liverpool ‘preparing to reignite Ibrahim Sangare interest’

Liverpool are reportedly preparing to reignite their interest in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.

The Reds were linked with the 24-year-old during the summer transfer window, but the deadline passed with the Ivory Coast international still at his Dutch club.

Chelsea and Manchester United were also credited with an interest in the midfielder, who signed a new deal with PSV last month, with the agreement due to run until June 2027.

Sangare has again been an important figure for his Eredivisie club this season, featuring on 10 occasions in all competitions, contributing three goals in the process.

In total, the Ivorian has made 98 appearances for PSV since arriving from Toulouse in September 2020, contributing eight goals and six assists.

According to Calciomercato, Liverpool remain interested in the midfielder and could attempt to bring him to Anfield during the January transfer window.

The report claims that AC Milan are also keeping a close eye on the situation, while West Ham United are hopeful of bringing him to the Premier League.

“I am a PSV player, and I am concentrating on the three games we have left this season. I don’t have my head in other things. After that, I’ll go on holiday, and I’ll have time to talk about possible next projects. But until then I don’t want to worry about that,” Sangare told De Telegraaf when addressing his future in May.

“Playing in the Premier League is not only a dream of mine but a dream of every footballer. That is the biggest and most important league in the world.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said late in the summer transfer window that his club were looking to bring in a new midfielder ahead of the deadline, with Arthur ultimately arriving on loan from Juventus.

“We are looking for it. If it is the right player, we need him. If it is not the right player, we don’t need him,” the German told reporters when questioned on a midfield addition.

“That changed, of course. I know we have had this discussion since it all started and I am the one who said we don’t need a midfielder and you were all right and I was wrong. That’s the situation.”

Liverpool are believed to retain an interest in Jude Bellingham and will allegedly attempt to sign the Borussia Dortmund midfielder during next summer’s transfer window.

An underwhelming start to the 2022-23 campaign has seen the Reds win just two of their opening seven games in all competitions, and they suffered a 4-1 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League last week.
