Karim Benzema is reportedly losing his battle to return from a hamstring problem in Tuesday’s Champions League contest with Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital.
The France international was not involved in his side’s La Liga contest with Granada last weekend due to an injury that he picked up during the 2-2 draw with Elche on January 23.
Benzema is back on the training pitches at Valdebebas, but according to Marca, he is extremely unlikely to be involved in Saturday’s league contest with Villarreal.
The report claims that the 34-year-old faces an uphill battle to prove his fitness ahead of the first leg of their last-16 Champions League contest with PSG.
Benzema allegedly suffered ‘a small tear’ in his hamstring against Elche, and the striker’s participation in Europe next week is ‘in serious doubt’.
The Frenchman has been in impressive form for Los Blancos during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 24 goals and registering nine assists in 28 appearances in all competitions.
