Cristiano Ronaldo vows to set record straight in tell-all interview

Cristiano Ronaldo has hit out at the “lies” surrounding his future, with the Manchester United attacker revealing that he will set the record straight in a tell-all interview.

The 37-year-old’s future remains the subject of much speculation, as he is allegedly still determined to force a move away from Old Trafford before the end of the summer transfer window.

Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Real Madrid are among the clubs believed to have rejected the chance to sign the Portugal international this summer.

Talk of a switch to Atletico Madrid has also cooled, but there is still thought to be an interest from the Spanish outfit approaching the final stages of the window.

Man United are now thought to be open to the idea of the forward leaving Old Trafford due to his negative presence around the squad.

The forward is believed to have told the Red Devils at the start of July that he is determined to leave in the current window to continue playing Champions League football in 2022-23.

A recent report claimed that Ronaldo sometimes sits by himself during lunch at the club’s Carrington training complex, and he has also shown his frustration during a number of training sessions, which has led to head coach Erik ten Hag changing his stance.

The Portuguese took to Instagram on Tuesday evening to hit out at the “lies” surrounding his future and has vowed to address the situation in a tell-all interview in the near future.

“They know the truth when they interview in a couple weeks. The media is telling lies. I have a notebook and in the last few months of the 100 news I made, only 5 were right. Imagine how it is. Stick with that tip,” wrote Ronaldo on his official account.

Ronaldo, who has been involved in his team’s opening two matches of the 2022-23 Premier League campaign, missed Man United’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia in July due to a personal issue.

The forward played the full 90 minutes of Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Brentford but refused to applaud the club’s supporters at the end of the match and also did not shake Ten Hag’s hand, which led to more speculation surrounding his situation at the club.

Sky Sports News reported on Sunday afternoon that Man United were considering terminating Ronaldo’s contract due to his recent behaviour, but it was later claimed that was not the case.

AC Milan and Inter Milan are also said to be among the clubs to have recently turned down the chance to sign Ronaldo this summer.

The former Sporting Lisbon youngster scored 24 goals and registered three assists in 37 appearances for the Red Devils last season, but he was unable to help the club secure a top-four spot in the Premier League table, with the team finishing sixth, which will see them play in the Europa League this term.
