Barcelona ‘want Ousmane Dembele decision by December 31’

Barcelona reportedly want Ousmane Dembele to give them a decision on his future by December 31 amid his contract stand-off.

The World Cup winner is due to become a free agent at the end of the 2021-22 season and can begin talks with clubs elsewhere from next month.

Barca president Joan Laporta has insisted that Dembele wants to remain at Camp Nou, but contract talks between the two parties are yet to lead to a positive solution.

According to Sport, Barcelona want an answer on their final contract offer by New Year’s Eve, otherwise they will attempt to garner a fee for Dembele in the January market.

The report adds that Dembele’s agent has been stalling over Barca’s extension offers, with the Blaugrana offering him a fixed salary while clubs elsewhere prepare to offer him ‘astronomical’ weekly wages.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Juventus have supposedly all been in contact with the agent of Dembele, who has made just four appearances this season due to injury.
