World Cup 2022: Brazil vs. Serbia head-to-head record

Brazil will kick off their quest to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a meeting against Serbia at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Thursday night.

Tite‘s men are one of the major favourites at this year’s edition of football’s biggest event and a win on the opening day would help set the tone nicely for the rest of the competition.

The Selecao’s opener against Serbia will be the third encounter between the teams overall and a second in consecutive World Cup tournaments.

Brazil claimed a narrow 1-0 victory in the first edition of this fixture which came in an international friendly at Estadio Cicero Pompeu de Toledo eight years ago.

Ex-international Fred grabbed the only goal of the game two minutes shy of the hour mark as wrapped up their preparations for the 2014 World Cup in style.

Most recently, the five-time world champions came out on top against Dragan Stojkovic‘s men in 2018 thanks to goals either side of half time from Paulinho and Thiago Silva.

Since then, Serbia are unbeaten against South American opponents and head into Thursday’s clash off the back of five wins in their last six games.
