Visiting the Camp Nou and seeing FC Barcelona in the flesh is on the bucket list for many football fans. Regardless of your feelings towards the club in general it’s a truly special experience that more than likely is going to stay with you for a lifetime.

Barcelona is also a fantastic city to visit. The food and architecture is amazing and watching the Catalonian sun slowly fade away while sitting on the beach is hard to beat. The city is teeming with Barca fans and everywhere you turn your head you’re bound to see someone wearing a jersey or a store proudly displaying the badge in their window. The city lives and breathes its football, sometimes to a somewhat unhealthy amount.

Getting the ticketsGetting tickets to Barcelona games used to be quite difficult for someone coming from abroad. Having to call in to book tickets or getting someone to purchase them for you is far from ideal. But with the advent of digital tickets it’s more or less the same as buying tickets for a game in England. There are also websites such as Hellotickets, an official partner of FC Barcelona, that make buying tickets from abroad a breeze. If you want to see more and learn about the options you can click on the link to buy your tickets here to see FC Barcelona.

However, you need to make sure to buy your tickets well in advance. Even though the Camp Nou rarely fills every seat for regular league matches anymore due to how the team has performed in recent years the good seats disappear incredibly quickly. By planning your trip well in advance you can make sure that you get the seats that you want. There are pretty cheap tickets available in the upper stands, but if you’ve traveled all the way from the UK it might be worth shelling out a couple of extra pounds to get a better seat. After all, it’s not every day one visits the Camp Nou.

The squad promises good gamesEven if Barcelona has had a couple of rocky seasons with disappointing performance, things seem like they might finally be turning in the right direction at the Camp Nou. New signings have been made with the most interesting naturally falling on Robert Lewandowski. After much back and forth he finally landed in Catalunya and is ready to lead this behemoth of European football back to the top of international competition. The question is now if he can continue to score goals at the same insane pace as when he was in FC Bayern.

Even if this season’s iteration of FC Barcelona is nothing close to what they were 5 or 10 years ago, they are still projected to end up in the top three of the La Liga. The play is still going to be incredible to watch and getting the chance to witness the beginning of this new chapter in Barcelona’s history books is something really special.

How to have the best matchday experienceThe best way to have a good experience around the game is to get to the stadium area early. Having a couple cervezas or an ice cream while strolling around taking in the sheer size of the Camp Nou. Pictures do not do it justice and it truly feels like standing next to a cathedral.

If you want to feel like a true spanish football fan, it’s absolutely paramount that you make sure to pack a sandwich to eat at halftime. This is a tradition that stretches back decades and some stadiums in the La Liga barely even sell food at halftime. The sandwich, known as a Bocadilla is a tradition that lives on and is highly appreciated by Spanish football fans.

Looking around at halftime you can often see all the other spectators around you tearing into their sandwiches while moaning about how their grandmothers would have scored from there. The Bocadillo is not as popular at Camp Nou as it is in Seville, and if you forgot to bring yours you can always get one at the concessions. But packing a sandwich to the game is a fun thing to do to make the experience even better.
