Real Madrid ‘no longer interested in Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe’

Real Madrid ‘no longer interested in Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe’

Real Madrid reportedly have no plans to rekindle their interest in wantaway Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe.

Los Blancos worked tirelessly to try to bring the 23-year-old to the Bernabeu earlier this year, but he ultimately signed a new three-year deal with the Ligue 1 champions.

Mbappe has started the 2022-23 season in strong form for Christophe Galtier‘s side, scoring 12 goals in 13 games across all tournaments alongside Neymar and Lionel Messi.

The ex-Monaco man became PSG’s highest scorer in the Champions League with his penalty in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Benfica, but off-field revelations over his future emerged before that game.

Multiple reports stated that Mbappe now feels that he has made a mistake by signing a new deal at the Parc des Princes, and he will push to leave the club in the January window.

The World Cup winner allegedly feels ‘betrayed’ by the powers-that-be over broken promises regarding his role in Galtier’s first XI and overall influence at the Parc des Princes.

Real Madrid have understandably been tipped to reignite their interest in Mbappe, but according to Marca, Carlo Ancelotti‘s side have no desire to get involved in the saga.

Los Blancos are supposedly just acting as ‘spectators’ away from the drama, and it has previously been claimed that Mbappe would not leave PSG for Real Madrid as part of a previous agreement.

With Real Madrid out of the race, Liverpool are seen as one of the few realistic options for Mbappe in 2023, but the Reds are not expected to move for the France international after spending big on Darwin Nunez.

Mbappe’s penalty against Benfica represented his 183rd goal from 230 appearances in a PSG shirt, and he has also come up with 88 assists since initially arriving on loan from Monaco in 2017.

As well as Mbappe, football advisor Luis Campos is also alleged to have been seeking an exit from the Parc des Princes only a few months after arriving, but the 58-year-old has denied claims that both he and Mbappe are aiming to leave.

“It’s a categorical denial on our part. Whether he’s happy or not, that’s a question you have to ask him. It’s a very personal question,” Campos told RMC Sport prior to the Champions League draw with Benfica.

“I see Kylian working. Kylian is an extraordinary professional. For example, he played sick in the last match in Reims, he made the effort for the team. I see Kylian arriving with his teammates, happy every day and with a huge desire to work.

“I’m very surprised because I’m with Kylian Mbappe every day and he never asked me, and I just asked the president, he never asked to leave in January. I don’t think that he thinks about it because if he thinks about it, he’s going to tell me. He never told me, I know he never told the president, that he wants to leave in January.

“In my opinion yes [he’s staying in January]. He never said anything to me. For me it’s clear that Kylian Mbappe is staying to follow his contract with PSG.”

Galtier has also shot down rumours that Mbappe is unhappy at the club and wants to leave, but PSG are rumoured to have identified AC Milan’s Rafael Leao as a possible replacement should the Frenchman successfully force a move away in 2023.
