Over £2bn was spent by Premier League clubs over the course of the summer transfer window.

Premier League sides broke the record for summer transfer spending, which was previously £1.45bn in the 2017 window.

As per the Daily Mail, under new owner Todd Boehly, Chelsea were the highest spenders in the top flight, with the arrival of eight players costing the Blues over £258m

Antony‘s £85m move from Ajax to Manchester United played a key role in the Red Devils spending over £214m in the summer transfer window.

West Ham United‘s and Tottenham Hotspur‘s transfer outlay was the third and fourth highest respectively in the top flight, while Nottingham Forest spent over £152m on 22 players.

Meanwhile, Leicester City were the Premier League’s lowest spenders, signing two players for a reported £15.3m, while they received £60m in player sales.
