Mohamed Salah equals Cristiano Ronaldo scoring feat in Champions League

Mohamed Salah has equalled Cristiano Ronaldo‘s record of scoring in seven successive Champions League away games courtesy of his strike in Liverpool‘s final group match against AC Milan this evening.

The Egyptian winger was something of a surprise inclusion in the starting lineup, with Liverpool having already secured their spot as group winners with two games to spare.

However, he continued his prolific form this season with an opportunistic goal to level the scores at San Siro, firing home after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had seen his initial effort saved.

The goal made it seven consecutive away Champions League appearances in which Salah has found the back of the net – only the second player to do that after Ronaldo managed the same for Real Madrid from 2013 to 2014.

The last time Salah failed to score in an away Champions League game was in October 2020, when Liverpool beat Ajax 1-0.

Meanwhile, the goal also saw the 29-year-old hit the 20 mark for the fifth consecutive season – the first Liverpool player to manage that feat since Ian Rush did so six years in a row from 1981-82 to 1986-87.

Salah now has 20 goals in just 21 appearances across all competitions this season, in addition to nine Premier League assists.
