Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag ‘will not let Donny Van de Beek leave’

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has told Ajax Donny Van de Beek will not be leaving the club this summer.

Since arriving at Old Trafford in 2020, Van de Beek has struggled at United, starting only four league games while he spent the second half of last season on loan at Old Trafford.

United were hopeful that the arrival of Erik ten Hag – who managed Van de Beek at Ajax – would help the Netherlands international settle at the club, but he has only made substitute appearances in the opening two league games.

However, according to The Sun, Ten Hag will not allow the 25-year-old to leave the club this summer despite Ajax showing an interest.

The United head coach has been surprised by Van de Beek’s lack of confidence, but still believes he can become a first-team regular.

Although Ajax could not afford the player’s £100,000 a week wages, they hoped United would subsidise the salary so they could take Van de Beek on loan for the season.
