Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola tests positive for COVID-19, seven players in isolation

Manchester City have announced that manager Pep Guardiola and assistant coach Juanma Lillo will miss Friday’s FA Cup third-round tie at Swindon Town after testing positive for coronavirus.

The 50-year-old Spaniard recorded a positive test on Tuesday, along with Lillo, and the pair will now go into self-isolation.

City have revealed that a total of 21 members at the club are now in self-isolation, including 14 backroom staff and seven first-team players.

The Citizens have also confirmed that assistant coach Rodolfo Borrell will now take charge of the team for the trip to Swindon.

Man City are yet to have seen any of their first-team fixtures postponed this season due to COVID-19-related issues, and as things stand their match at the County Ground is scheduled to go ahead.

Guardiola is the latest high-profile name to contract the virus after Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Burnley head coach Sean Dyche.
