Manchester City ‘lining up new contract for Gabriel Jesus’

Manchester City are reportedly ready to offer forward Gabriel Jesus a new long-term contract.

The 24-year-old joined the Citizens from Palmeiras in January 2017 and then extended his deal 18 months later until June 2023, when it is due to expire.

According to 90min, City are keen to tie down the Brazilian to a new contract and are preparing to hold talks with his representatives in the coming months.

It was assumed that Jesus would fill the void left behind by club legend Sergio Aguero as the central striker under Pep Guardiola, however the forward has openly expressed his desire to play as a winger.

The 52-cap Brazil international has impressed in his new creative role, registering eight assists in all competitions which is more than any other City player so far this campaign.

Jesus has made a total of 214 appearances for the Premier League champions, scoring 87 goals and providing 42 assists, as well as winning 10 trophies during his five-year spell at the Etihad Stadium.
