According to The Sun, United have offered Trapp a £180,000-a-week contract that would see earn between £9m to £10m per year.

Despite presenting the Germany international with a lucrative contract offer, United had an approach rejected by the Bundesliga club on Monday.

While Trapp admitted is was “nice” to be linked with United, Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner has expressed his desire to retain the services of the 32-year-old.

The goalkeeper, who has two years remaining on his current contract, has made 261 appearances for the German side.
