How Barcelona could line up against Inter Milan

Unbeaten in seven La Liga games, and with six successive domestic wins under their belt, Barcelona return to Champions League action on Tuesday with several selection dilemmas to resolve.

The Blaugrana travel to San Siro, where they tackle Inter Milan in the first of back-to-back fixtures between the European giants in the coming days, but some important players will be forced to miss out on Group C’s third matchday.

After a number of his men suffered injuries on international duty, Xavi has a shortage of options at right-back; leaving only Sergi Roberto and the left-footed Alex Balde available as cover.

Still recovering from an Achilles tendon problem, Sergi Roberto was only considered fit enough for a substitute role at the weekend, but could be forced into action in Milan.

Regular choice Jules Kounde picked up an injury while representing France, while Ronald Araujo may now miss the rest of 2022 after undergoing thigh surgery and Hector Bellerin is sidelined by a calf problem.

In addition, Dutch duo Memphis Depay and Frenkie De Jong also miss out, with a minor muscular injury suffered in Mallorca also threatening Gavi‘s participation.

Both Ansu Fati and Gerard Pique made just their second starts of the season on Saturday night, but could both make way in midweek: Eric Garcia, Pedri and Raphinha are among those likely to come back into the starting XI, as Xavi rotates his resources once again.

Leading the line up front will be star striker Robert Lewandowski, who scored Barca’s winner at the weekend – registering his ninth goal of the season.

Barcelona possible starting lineup: Ter Stegen; Roberto, Christensen, Garcia, Alba; Kessie, Busquets, Pedri; Dembele, Lewandowski, Raphinha
