Erling Braut Haaland: ‘Borussia Dortmund are pressuring me to make decision on future’

Erling Braut Haaland has said that Borussia Dortmund have ‘started to pressure him’ into making a decision on his future.

The 21-year-old has again been in remarkable form for BVB during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 21 times and registering six assists in 18 appearances in all competitions.

There will be a £63m release clause in the Norway international’s contract this summer, and a number clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, are said to be keen to sign him.

Haaland has said that Dortmund want him to make a decision on his future soon, with the German outfit keen to know whether they will need to sign a replacement ahead of next season.

“The last six months, I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund,” Haaland told Viaplay. “But now the club has started to pressure me into making a decision, but all I want to do is to play football.

“But they press me to make a decision now about my future. So that means I have to make a decision soon. I have said from the beginning that I want to focus on football, because that is when I am at my best, not when other things come into my mind.

“Now they have put pressure for a while. So it is time to get things started. All I want to do is to play football, but I can’t do that now.”

Haaland has scored 78 goals and registered 21 assists in 77 appearances for Dortmund since making the move from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.
