Chelsea’s Armando Broja wanted by AC Milan?

Serie A holders AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea striker Armando Broja.

The 20-year-old only put pen to paper on a new six-year contract at the beginning of September, keeping him tied to the club until the summer of 2028.

Broja was heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge over the summer, with West Ham United failing in their attempts to sign the £30m-rated striker on a permanent basis.

The likes of Southampton, where Broja spent last season on loan, Everton and Napoli were also credited with an interest but a move for the Albania international failed to materialise.

Speculation persists regarding Broja’s future in West London, and Calciomercato claims that AC Milan are contemplating a move to sign the striker when the transfer window re-opens.

The report adds that Chelsea regard the youngster as ‘transferable’ despite penning a new deal with the club earlier this month.

Milan are believed to be looking to bolster their attacking options as they feel that they cannot solely rely on veteran striker Olivier Giroud, who turns 36 on Friday.

The Rossoneri added Divock Origi to their ranks over the summer, with the Belgium international joining on a free transfer after his contract with Liverpool expired.

However, the 27-year-old has made only four substitute appearances for the club this season and a recent report claims that they are prepared to part ways with him in January.

Milan have a recent history with Chelsea in the transfer market as Giroud, Fikayo Tomori and Tiemoue Bakayoko all moved to San Siro in the summer of 2021.

Broja is now the latest name linked with a switch to the Italian giants, but the striker is seemingly content with fighting for his place at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to the club’s official website after signing his new contract, Broja said: “I’ve been here since I was a boy so it’s a surreal feeling for me and my family. To be able to put on the blue shirt with the first team is a dream come true.

“It’s amazing every minute that you get to play on the pitch because this is one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“There’s always competition and everyone wants to play so I’m just happy that I have the opportunity to be a part of it. Hopefully I get to play a lot of matches and be a part of the team’s success.”

Under the tutelage of newly-appointed head coach Graham Potter, Broja will be competing with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz for regular starts as a centre-forward.
