Chelsea ‘to reopen Mason Mount contract talks in January’

Chelsea ‘to reopen Mason Mount contract talks in January’

Chelsea are reportedly set to reopen discussions over a new contract for Mason Mount in January.

Since making his debut for the Blues in 2019, Mount has gone on to establish himself as a key part of the Chelsea side, registering 32 goals and 37 assists in 181 appearances.

Despite seemingly being a prominent figure in the Chelsea squad, talks over a new contract have failed to make significant progress.

Mount is set to enter the final 18 months of a five-year deal, but a recent report claimed that Chelsea were still confident of finding a breakthrough in negotiations.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Chelsea will resume discussions over a new contract in January, as they look to secure Mount’s long-term future.

With talks appearing to stall, the 23-year-old has been linked with a potential move to Liverpool, who are looking to strengthen their midfield, while there is also believed to be interest from Juventus.

Mount started England’s 6-2 victory over Iran at the World Cup in Qatar, and he is expected to retain his place in the side when the Three Lions face the United States on Friday.
