Chelsea ‘open contract talks with Reece James, Mason Mount’

Chelsea have reportedly begun talks over a new contract with Reece James and Mason Mount.

The England internationals are considered key figures in the Chelsea squad, and as a result, the new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is believed to be prioritising contract extensions.

James’s current deal expires in 2025, while Mount has two years left to run on his contract, and with both players attracting interest from clubs across Europe, the Blues are keen to agree new deals.

According to Chelsea News, via The Athletic, Chelsea have opened contract talks with the England duo as they look to agree long-term contracts.

Both players are believed to be among the lowest-paid individuals in the Chelsea squad after Mount and James previously signed new deals in July 2019 and January 2020 respectively.

James has scored one goal and provided one assist in four games this season, while Mount is still looking to open his account after starting all five league matches this term.
