Brighton & Hove Albion sign Poland international Kacper Kozlowski

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Poland international Kacper Kozlowski from Ekstraklasa outfit Pogon Szczecin.

The 18-year-old midfielder has signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the Seagulls and will head straight out on loan to Belgian Pro League leaders Union SG, who are owned by Brighton chairman Tony Bloom.

Kozlowski, who had previously been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, became the youngest ever player to represent their country at the European Championships when he came on as a substitute, aged 17, in Poland’s 1-1 draw with Spain at Euro 2020.

Head coach Graham Potter told the club’s official website: “His style of play suits us and our style. During my time here, we have done very well in recruiting players for the future and Kacper is a similar signing.

“He will initially head out on loan, as it is important for him to continue his development, and he is keen to continue playing regularly.

“We will be watching with interest, as he is a very exciting young talent and a player I am really looking forward to working with in the future.”

Kozlowski came through the ranks with Pogon and made his professional debut as a 15-year-old on the final day of the 2018-19 Ekstraklasa season, coming on as a late substitute in a 3-0 victory over Cracovia.

The midfielder went on to make 43 appearances for Pogon across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.
